Cranwell Road

The problem

Desire lines like this one off Cranwell Road in Strelley are unplanned shortcuts worn into the ground by repeated foot traffic. They show the most direct or convenient route between places, often ignoring official paved paths, but can be slippy and dangerous in cold and wet weather, and can have trip hazards.

The solution

We installed a new tarmac path, removing hazards and making the area much safer. Feedback from residents includes:

“It looks much tidier.”

“It’s good to have a proper path."                                                                                                                                                                               “No puddles after the rain or muddy trainers any more.”

“Its smoother for pushchairs and wheelchairs.”

“The lads were polite and respectful, communication was good and we knew what was happening.”
