New app to help with the cost of living

Nottingham City Council is launching a new app to support tenants and leaseholders with the rising cost of living.
The Housing Perks app offers savings of up to 20% at hundreds of well-known supermarkets and high street stores, allowing tenants and leaseholders who download it to save money on everything from groceries and fuel to school uniforms, home furnishings and family days out.
Supermarkets such as Tesco, Asda and ALDI are included alongside retailers like Amazon, Argos, B&M and Sports Direct.
Housing Perks can also help tenants to manage their rent. They can choose to automatically transfer the savings they make into their rent account rather than claiming discounts on their shopping - helping to either reduce arrears or build up a financial buffer for the future.
The initiative forms part of a wider package of support from the Council that aims to help tenants and leaseholders navigate ongoing financial pressures. The Housing Perks app is already used successfully across a number of councils and housing associations including here in Nottingham Tuntum Housing and NCHA (Nottingham Community Housing Association).
Councillor Jay Hayes, Executive Member for Housing and Planning, says, “We know that many of our tenants and leaseholders feel the impact of the rising cost of living, and supporting them remains a key priority for us.
“Housing Perks is a simple but effective way to help people save money on the things they buy every day, while also giving them the option to strengthen their rent accounts.
“This is just one of the ways we are working to provide practical, meaningful support to our tenants and help them maintain secure and sustainable tenancies.”
