Get in touch with British Sign Language

Nottingham City Council is making it easier for Deaf people who use British Sign Language (BSL) to contact the council through a dedicated BSL service.

The service enables BSL users to communicate with the council in their preferred language, helping them access information, advice and council services more easily.

Improving accessibility is an important part of the council's commitment to making sure everyone can access services in a way that meets their needs. The BSL contact service offers another way for Deaf residents to get the support and information they need.

Whether you're looking for information about housing, council tax, benefits, waste and recycling, social care or other council services, the BSL contact service can help you connect with the right team.

Councillor Matt Shannon, Executive Member for Community Protection, Neighbourhoods and Equalities, said: "We want everyone to be able to access our services independently and with confidence. Our British Sign Language contact service helps remove communication barriers and makes it easier for Deaf residents to get the information and support they need. We're committed to making Nottingham a city where everyone feels included and can access council services in a way that works for them."
